Emre and his family are very pleased with the outcome of his surgery. Emre is a star on his soccer team and plays unaffected by the operation on his leg. He is spending the summer with his family in Turkey and is attending summer camp there. Now nine years old, Emre received glowing reports from his teachers in school this past year and will begin fourth grade in the fall.
Emre, I fell in love with you last night! Such a mature, handsome little boy. You look fantastic, not to say you didn't look fantastic before the surgery. You have some great parents watching over you. God Bless. Virgie

Hi Emre, We are glad to see you doing so well. Our daughter, Courtney, just went through a similar operation performed by Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Weber at Hopkins. She has bone cancer in her left leg. The doctors worked for over 14 hours to remove the bad bone and replace it with donor bone and tissue from her right leg. They saved her leg! Dr. Eddie, as Courtney calls him, told us about some of his other patients and how they have gone on to recover from this terrible disease. We have faith that Courtney will soon be back on her feet playing soccer and basketball just like you. Emre, you are an inspiration to us and we hope Courtney will be an inspiration to others. Emre, I was very inspired by your story. At such a young age, I was taken back by your bravery and faith that you would be okay. You are beautiful inside and out and you have a huge heart. Hi Emre, You are so brave and will have such a great life. You are so handsome and bright. The person you are inside the body of flesh and bone is what makes you so special. There is nothing you can not do. Look at the people in wheel chairs and who are blind and have such full lives. Youre going to be fine. Keep your head up and let the world see you coming.
