Teresa DeVaughn B.S.N.

A nurse clinician in the pediatric intensive care unit at Hopkins Children’s since 1998 and a member of the PICU transport team since 2000, Teresa DeVaughn was born and raised in Elizabeth City, N.C. She grew up planning to be a veterinarian, but the television series “China Beach,” which showcased military nurses in Vietnam, changed her focus.

DeVaughn received her LPN and associate of science degree while she and her husband, an active member of the military, were living in Texas. After they moved back to the Mid-Atlantic, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maryland.

Still involved with animals, DeVaughn enjoys horseback riding and owns a rescued off-the-track thoroughbred. She and her husband of 25 years have two grown children and two Jack Russell terriers. Her son Michael was a military policeman in the Army who served in Iraq and her daughter is engaged and planning a summer wedding.
