Robert Montgomery M.D., Ph.D.

Robert Montgomery, considered a world's expert on kidney transplantation of complex patients and patients with incompatible donors, led the team that performed the first triple swap kidney transplant and five-way domino transplant. He is an associate professor of surgery, director of the Incompatible Kidney Transplant Program, chief of the Division of Transplantation, and director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center at Johns Hopkins. He received his medical degree at the University of Rochester, N.Y., and his Ph.D. in molecular immunology at the University of Oxford, England. He completed his general surgical and multi-organ transplantation training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he has practiced since 1987.

When he's not in the operating room, Montgomery drives a GT 500 Shelby Cobra and has an alpaca farm in rural Maryland.
