James C. Fackler M. D.

James Fackler is Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology/Critical Care Medicine. He attended the University of Illinois and Rush Medical College and went on to complete a residency in pediatrics as well as anesthesiology at Hopkins. He also trained in pediatric critical care. Broadly, Dr. Fackler’s research and interest lies in the introduction and maintenance of knowledge based automation in critical care and electronic medical record systems. Dr. Fackler’s interest in medical informatics began in 1990 and, with a colleague, he eventually founded the Children’s Hospital (Boston) Informatics Program. Within the Program, he helped establish the use of the internet for movement of medical information. Dr. Fackler is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association and the Society for Critical Care Medicine. He also has a US Patent Application for “Smart Plug, a universal medial device interface.”
