Unusual in that he is board certified in both plastic and reconstructive surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery—specialties that require two different doctoral degrees—Anthony Tufaro launched his graduate education at New York University College of Dentistry. After completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Nassau County Medical Center, he was in practice for seven years when he decided to augment his D.D.S. with an M.D. Graduating from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, he trained in general and plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins, then went to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for a fellowship in surgical oncology with an emphasis on head and neck tumors. Today specializing in adult and pediatric craniofacial surgery, Tufaro has a particular interest and extensive experience in the reconstruction of, and other surgery involving, the jaw.
