An emergency medicine resident at Johns Hopkins since 2005, Ann Czarnik received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Before entering medical school, she worked as a clinical research contractor performing cardiovascular studies and then as a laboratory technician, first at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she studied clinical leukemia treatments, then at the University of Virginia, where she performed experiments on cardiac in-stent restenosis. During that time, she also worked as a volunteer emergency medical technician for the Charlottes Rescue Squad, where she provided emergency first-responder medical care. She eventually would like to do medical relief work in the United States and abroad.
When she's not tending to patients, Czarnik enjoys skiing, yoga, reading, following politics and learning to be a great cook.
